SACO, MAINE – Sweetser, Maine’s most comprehensive mental health network, will kick off its annual holiday Toy Drive at Portland Downtown District’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony November 24 at 5:30 pm in Monument Square.
The toy drive, which is sponsored by Downeast Energy and Building Supply, will benefit children served by Sweetser.
“Downeast Energy and its customers wish every Sweetser child warm holiday wishes and blessings,” says Betsy Morrell, Vice President of Marketing and Training Development. “We need you to help us bring a smile to the face of a deserving child on Christmas morning. We know that, together, we can bring joy to so many children this holiday season.”
The public is invited to drop new, unwrapped toys in the bright red barrels set up around the square. Captain Puffin is also scheduled to arrive with Santa on a Portland Fire Department truck at approximately 6:00 p.m.
From November 24th through December 13, Downeast Energy also invites people to drop off toys at any of their 13 offices throughout Central and Southern Maine.
The Wish List for teens includes: gift cards, CDs, DVDs, sports team hats, shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, winter hats, gloves, Discman, handheld electronics and games, arts and crafts supplies, board games and jewelry/bead making kits..
In addition, other companies participating in the Sweetser holiday toy drive include Franklin Printing, Great Works Internet, IDEXX, Norway Savings Bank, One & Two Portland Square, St. Joseph’s Church Religious Education, Systems Engineering and The Holden Agency will also be participating in Sweetser’s holiday gift program, hosting gift trees at their locations from November l3th -December 8th.
