February 2010: Downeast Energy’s Mt. Vernon Office Honored with Two United Way Awards
BRUNSWICK, MAINE, FEBRUARY 15, 2010 –The United Way of the Tri-Valley Area has honored the Mt. Vernon office of Downeast Energy with the “Outstanding Achievement” and the “You Raise Me Up” awards. The “Outstanding Achievement” award is presented to a local business in recognition of its innovation, participation and collaboration during the 2009-2010 United Way Tri-Valley area campaign.
The second award, “You Raise Me Up,” is given in appreciation for increased contributions to the United Way. The Mount Vernon office had close to 100% participation and raised more than $1,000 for the “Live United” campaign. This campaign helps to strengthen families, assist the elderly and improve the quality of life of the residents of Franklin County and northern Androscoggin County.
The awards were presented to Downeast Energy at the United Way’s Annual Meeting, held at the G.H. Bass Room, Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington last month. “We are honored to receive both of these awards as they represent and recognize one of our company’s core values which is to support our community,” said Sonya Clark, general manager of the Mt. Vernon office for Downeast Energy.
Stacie Bourassa, a United Way Tri-Valley staff member added, “The Mt. Vernon office for Downeast is truly a standout group and a wonderful corporate citizen. The office doubled the amount given from the previous year through Sonya’s leadership and generous employees, making the campaign a phenomenal success.”
