January 2005: Tsunami Relief
This holiday season, the world was stunned to see the horrible devastation wreaked by the tsunamis that hit Asia. Many Mainers have reached deep into their pockets in order to help those suffering across the world, yet have felt that their assistance cannot possibly go far enough. To help, Downeast Energy and Building Supply is donating $7500 to the Mid Coast Red Cross toward tsunami relief, and also matching each and every employee’s donation 100% up to $2500. “We heard from our employees that they wanted to help the victims of the tsunami, and we felt that we had an obligation as a corporation to help too,” said Betsy Morrell of Downeast Energy. “This matching donation program allows us to maximize our assistance while ensuring that our employees’ donations go even further than their already generous efforts.”
